Computer control improves formerly developed mathematical methods to find the solution which best suits the given conditions and process models. Often, the “best solution” has to be determined subject to restrictions. When considering several aspects, the best solution is often about finding the best compromise. Most of these computer methods are available in tool sets which can be used quite generally and comfortably on the basis of the general experience of system science. Such tool sets include MATHEMATICA, MATLAB or SIMULINK.
